Actuary
Responsible for the initiation, organization and analysis of actuarial research, methods, and procedures used for product development, financial forecasting, experience studies and other analytical activities.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support development activities within the organization as a team member or subject matter expert on:
• New Product development and implementation
• Commission or other agent compensation rules and procedures
Manage the actuarial function by defining scope, developing procedures, conducting research, and coordinating completion of actuarial activities or corporate projects:
• Studies and Reporting for product evaluation – experience studies, underwriting protocols,
expense studies etc.
• Development, maintenance and use of actuarial projection models for pricing and filing, capital
planning, budgeting and forecasting, and corporate decision support
• Reserve calculation process and data sources for Active Life, Claims, IBNR, Premium
Requirements:
• B.S. degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science or related degree
• 5 -9 years experience in actuarial work with significant exposure to valuation of long care, or
disability insurance, and actuarial modeling
• Exposure to managing and taking ownership of complex actuarial projects
• Proficiency in AXIS and SQL
Special Conditions of Employment (licenses, certificates, credentials, etc.):
• FSA designation; or ASA with recent progress towards FSA and intent to continue acturial
examinations
• An ASA who is not pursuing additional actuarial examinations, but has additional and
relevant experience may also be considered
