Actuarial Analyst

Engage in core actuarial functions including pricing, reserving, reinsurance analysis and forecasting. Includes preparation and interpretation of data and related formulas. Provides information for actuarial reporting and reserve file creation and financial projection models for LifeSecure insurance products.

 

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of experience analysis reports
  • Participate in developing new reports and tools
  • Help maintain moderately complex financial projection model and reserving model
  • Analyze and summarize trend findings and provide commentary/explanation on reports and research
  • Assist in providing data for rate filings and certifications
  • Maintain and update commission schedules, exhibits and data
  • Create and update spreadsheets that support various LifeSecure departments (sales, agent administration, etc.)

Requirements:

  • B.S degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related degree
  • 1-3 yrs Actuarial experience
  • Passed 3-4 actuarial exams
  • Committed to attaining the SOA Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
 
  • Knowledge of actuarial principles and practices, underwriting and claims practices preferred
  • Knowledge of mathematics and statistics with the ability to perform necessary mathematical computations
  • Ability to apply the principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, identify trends and draw conclusions
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate actuarial concepts and conclusions to non-actuaries
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in SQL or related database language preferred
  • Experience with computer or statistical programming language
  • Competent and comfortable learning and working with new software
  • Ability to perform actuarial and statistical analyses
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish workflows, and meet necessary deadlines
  • Comfortable starting from scratch and developing new material
