We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support our Finance department staff and assist with the accounts payable function, premium tax filings, regulatory filings, unclaimed property filings, account reconciliations and budgets.

Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support our Finance department staff and assist with the accounts payable function, premium tax filings, regulatory filings, unclaimed property filings, account reconciliations and budgets. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Review all expense reports to ensure compliance with Business Expense Reimbursement policy, process expense reports for payment
  • Process check and EFT requests including invoice input, produce and distribute checks, upload bank data and respond to inquiries about vendor payments
  • Responsible for coordination of premium tax filings with our TPA-Tritech Services, Inc., compile all data needed for returns to be filed, and ensure accuracy of data uploaded into Premium Pro tax software. Upload premium tax payments into Great Plains general ledger software.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Maintain thorough and accurate files and documentation, in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices
  • Assist with month end close process
  • Prepare analysis of accounts as required
  • Assist with annual budgeting process
  • Assist with other projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) or similar software
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Customer focused
